But the star of the weekend was none other than Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder put in a man of the match performance as his side ran out 5-2 winners over Ipswich Town. Fernandes scored three times with Jacob Greaves (OG) and Bryan Mbeumo adding the others.
Ipswich had taken a lead on the half-hour mark, and United fans were thinking that this was going to be a repeat of the opening defeat to Hull.
However, Fernandes struck shortly before halftime and then scored two in the space of 7 minutes to send United 4-1 ahead, after a shot from Harry Maguire had been deflected in off Greaves' turned foot.
Mbeumo made it 5-1 eight minutes from time before a shocking piece of defending from Lisandro Martinez allowed former Arsenal academy player Chuba Akpom to tap home into an empty net from close-range.
The biggest matchup in the gameweek 3 has to be - without a doubt - the clash at The Bridge when Arsenal make the trip across London to face Chelsea.
This will no doubt test Arsenal's capability of defending their title while Chelsea will be wanting to stamp their own authority on their title credentials. It's early days yet, but this game is being billed as an early title-decider.
